Residential Gardens
A garden is one of life’s great pleasures. The
chorus of colors, textures, and patterns in
well-designed gardens registers subtly on every age
group. Gardens are retreats, extensions of indoor
living space, places to entertain, warm-weather
family rooms, and space for adults to relax and
children and pets to explore and play.
However you envision your garden, and the way you
want it to function in your life, can be adapted to
the characteristics of the site and your budget.
Tammy brings her knowledge of horticulture, her
training in the fundamentals of design, and twelve
years of professional experience in landscape
assessment, redesign, installation, and maintenance
to each garden project she undertakes.
The process of designing your new garden starts with
a consultation. In the initial consultation, you and
Tammy will discuss your vision for the garden: how
you want it to look and feel, how it will function
as part of your overall living space, whether there
is a theme you want to elaborate, e.g., a Tuscan
garden, an English garden, native garden,
contemporary garden, etc.
As you walk the area that will comprise the garden,
Tammy will assess the site, making notes on the
existing landscape and plants, and the microclimates
that may impact the selection of foliage.
Infrastructure considerations such as lighting,
irrigation, retaining walls, trellises, paths, and
fountains are taken into account, to harmonize your
vision with the practical aspects of budget,
installation, and maintenance.
Tammy will then prepare perspective and elevation
renderings of the proposed design and recommend
specific plants for your consideration. Further
discussion of the specific needs of your project
completes the design process. For example, whether
retaining walls are necessary, and if so, what the
permit requirements are; review of materials for
planters, paths, trellises, fountains, etc.; and the
final selection of plants. Once a design is
approved, Tammy will work with a contractor to
translate the design and guide the installation.
Contractor Designer Landscapes and
Commercial Landscaping
First
impressions are lasting, and a well-thought out
landscape can create a pivotal impression that adds
substantial value to a site. Developers’ landscaping
needs are often dictated by building code
requirements, and a landscape design may even be
required for permitting.
Contractor/designer landscapes benefit from Tammy’s
professional experience in commercial landscape
assessment, redesign, and installation. Tammy’s
designs keep fire-scaping in mind while developing
the landscape aesthetic to create desired visual
impact on potential renters/buyers, residents and
businesses, within a specified budget.
